St. Mura's was built in the 1930s to replace the old Parish School of 1856. It is a two teacher school with an enrolment of about 40 pupils, boys and girls, ages 4-12, representing the three major denominations in Ireland, i.e. Church of Ireland, Presbyterian and Roman Catholic. The school is under the patronage of the Church of Ireland Bishop of Derry & Raphoe, The Rt. Rev. Ken Good

St Mura's is about the education of the whole person. The unique environment that is associated with our school seeks to challenge each student to develop their potential, to be socially aware, constructively critical and questioning. The family atmosphere that prevails in the school ensures the building of warm, personal relationships where there is trust and respect, encouragement and forgiveness. We are seeking to enable and encourage our students in their :- Intellectual Development, Personal Development - both physical & emotional,
The School's ethos relies upon, and is committed to practical Christian faith, through which is established a spiritual framework that seeks to nurture a sense of moral right and the development of a strong values system. We aim to give our children a broad general education that will equip them for transfer to secondary schooling. |
